I came across this article, and was stunned. Quoting Arthur Miller from the article , "A character, is defined by the kinds of challenges he cannot walk away from. And by those he has walked away from that cause him remorse."
The article reminded me of a Tennesse Williams play "The Glass Menagerie". I was somehow more sympathetic towards the protagonist Tom Wingfield. In real life however, I cannot fathom how one can abandon anyone in one's family.
