The Makioka Sisters

The first half of the book was interesting. It was good to get a feel of Japanese society in the 1950s. And the relationship between the four sisters was nicely portrayed as well.

However after a while, the arranged marriage discussions of two of the sisters, the talks related to the family name and the society, became quite repetative and tedious.
