I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in religion and the role it plays in our lives.
According to wikipedia, publication of this book resulted in death threats for the author -Naguib Mahfouz, and the book was banned throughout the Arab world, except Lebanon. I am definitely going to check out more of the author's work.
What I really liked about the book was the fact that the book not only focuses on faith, but also to some extent on work, innovation and science. To be able to lead a life without despair, each person is free to choose their own solace, their own shelter. Who are we to judge?
