The City of God is a fabulous movie. Its a beautifully filmed true account of gangs in a favela of Rio de Janeiro called "Cidade De Deus".
It was really interesting to read the trivia section of the movie on IMDB. This movie is really violent, really sad, but I didn't shed a single tear. Probably because the movie is extremely fast paced, and there really is no time or room to indulge in sadness. However the movie is quite chilling, and the chill persists long after the movie ends.
This movie is a must-see.
