Because of the book-club, I am picking and reading books which I would otherwise have not touched with a pole. Initially I used to be really skeptical about reading a book-club pick, but now I look forward it. Its like once you expose your taste-buds to different cuisines, you really don't want to stick to just one fare. And it doesn't matter if sometimes you don't like what you get, but you crave for different things, as the experience itself is quite enriching.
Reading The Gospel According to Jesus Christ, by Jose Saramago was quite an enriching experience, and I loved the book to boot. Its a witty, intellectually stimulating and quite an interesting account of the life of Jesus Christ. I am bowled over by Saramago's writing.
