I know of quite a few smart, beautiful, well-read women of my age who are still single. No, I have never broached the subject of their unmarried status, but have always wondered about the lack of eligible guys for these women.
There is one glaring imbalance, where Indian guys who are in the US can and do go back to India to look for a suitable girl, whereas Indian girls in the US choose not to do so. But even then that should not be a major factor, as the percentage of single Indian girls in graduate schools in the US is quite low to begin with.
