I read this book after baby#2. The long nursing sessions, the endless hours sans adult company, was a perfect time to read a book like this. Sentences without much punctuations, with a slow progress of the story is ok when you have nothing better to do.
After reading this book, what stuck with me was how life must have been in the 17th century. When we admire churches, or other buildings of those times, do we ever stop and wonder what it must have taken to build something of that magnitude in that age? Not in terms of the arts, architecture, or even vision, but how the day to day life of the laborers must have been like?
And what if in that age, were you to lose, as in lose touch with, a loved one? This book is poetry in prose. One you will not regret reading.
