Family matters is set in the 90s, and is about a lower-middle class family's struggle with their finances and responsibilities. Rohinton Mistry's books are filled with characters and situations I can easily identify with.
He seems to tackle the same subject, the plight of the poor and the lower-middle classes in India, yet he seems to have a fresh narrative in each of his novels. In this book he shows how people and their leanings (religious as well) change with the change in circumstances. And I loved the way he has described the family taking care of their old relative. Very Real.
